
Courtney earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a Masters of Science in Psychology. Courtney is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and is currently under clinical supervision. She is also a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist.
Courtney currently works as a crisis interventionist and serves as a liaison between law enforcement and the chronically mentally ill. Courtney is a hostage negotiator for several police departments in Tarrant County, Texas. Courtney is a trainer at the Fort Worth Police Academy and provides Crisis Intervention Training, Mental Health Peace Officer Training, Hostage Negotiation Training, and other specialized training to several police departments. She also provides critical incident peer support training to United States Army personnel. Courtney has experience working with chronically mentally ill adults, persons in crisis and clients with anger management issues. Courtney also teaches batterers intervention groups for domestic violence offenders. Courtney previously worked as a 911 dispatcher for Hurst Police Department and was a communications training officer. Courtney created and developed crisis intervention training for dispatchers.
Courtney is currently in private practice at Mid Cities Center for Change where she works as a psychotherapist. Courtney is a member of the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators and has published a CIT article in the Texas State Police Journal in 2009 and a Law Liaison Article in the National Council Magazine in 2010. Courtney was selected to co-present with the Hurst Police Chief at the Center for Mental Health Services National GAINS Center Conference in Orlando, Florida and at the Texas Council of Community Center’s Conference.
